  1. Day 1 Airport – Leh (By Air) (11562 i.e. 3524 mts ) 5 – 6 km.(30 minutes Drive Approx)

Welcome to Ladakh, a region extending from the Glacier to the main great Himalayas, a land like no other. Your adventure begins with your arrival at Leh Airport, the capital, and the largest town of Ladakh. Ashoka Adventure’s team will meet you at the airport, drive you to the hotel for check-in, and offer a welcome drink on arrival. We recommend you relax for the day to settle in before exploring the stunning landscape and roads tomorrow. In the afternoon, our supported team leader will meet you at the hotel, briefing you about the trip. Visit Shanti Stupa and Leh Palace in the afternoon.

Shanti Stupa: Located on the hilltop at Changspa, constructed by a Japanese Buddhist organization known as ”The Japanese for World Peace” to commemorate 2500 years of Buddhism and promote world peace.
Leh Palace: Built in the 17th century as the residential palace for King Singee Namgyal, now in ruins with nine storeys, it was the home of the royal family until their exile to Stok in the 1830s.
    Overnight stay at Leh.

  2. Day 2 Shey,Thiksay & Hemis 75 kms (5-6 hrs one way)

Shey: The ancient capital of Ladakh, even after the construction of a more imposing palace at Leh by King Singee Namgyal, continued to be regarded as the real home. The significance of Shey, the seat of Ladakh’s heartland, is evident in the numerous chortens around the village, especially around the palace complex and barren plain to the north of the road.

Thiksey: One of the largest and most impressive Gonpas, Thiksey houses several temples with images, stupas, and exquisite wall paintings. It also features a two-storied statue of Buddha in the main prayer hall.

Hemis: Dedicated to Padmasambhava, at Hemis, visitors witness a series of scenes where lamas, robed in richly colored brocade and sporting sometimes bizarrely hideous masks, parade in solemn dance and mime around the huge flagpole in the center of the courtyard. The moan of the eleven feet horns, the boom of drums, and the clash of cymbals add to the spectacle. Founded in the 1630s by Tsang Raspa under the royal patronage of Singe Namgail, Hemis is the largest and richest of the Ladakh Gompas, nestled into the mountainside a little way up a glen.

    Overnight stay in Leh.

  3. Day 3 Leh to Nubra (10,000 i.e. 3250mts) 125Km.(4-5hrs one way Approx)

Upon arrival in Nubra Valley, drive to Disket, the headquarters town of Nubra Valley. Driving for 30 kms takes you to Khalsar Bridge. Visit Disket Monastery, and further drive from Disket to Hunder, where you may encounter Double Humped, Hairy, and Bactrian Camels.

  4. Day 4 Nubra to Leh (10,000 i.e. 3250mts) 125km (4-5 hrs one way Approx)

Crossing the Ladakh range via Chang-La (18,000 feet/5,475 meters), which, despite its great elevation, is one of the easier passes, remaining open for much of the year even in winter (except during periods of actual snowfall). Tangse, just beyond the foot of the pass, features an ancient temple. Pangong Lake, the highest saltwater lake in the world, is shared by India (25%) and China (75%). Enjoy the beauty of the lake on its banks while appreciating the changing colors of this fascinating high-altitude lake. Drive back to Leh in the evening.
